Special Operations

The Special Operations Unit is a specialty unit of the Patrol Division whose mission is to serve the public in a wide variety of ways (motorcycles, mountain bikes, honor guard, K-9, search & rescue, and traffic safety) and be a "go to" unit that can face the many different challenges that arise for the Sheriff's Office.

Goals:

To effectively promote traffic safety to the citizens of Rockingham County and the City of Harrisonburg in an effort to minimize property damage, injuries and deaths on our highways.

To serve as a multi-purpose unit that will enhance citizen safety, education, understanding and satisfaction with the patrol division of the Sheriff's Office.

To reduce traffic violations, and traffic crashes through increased law enforcement presence and visibility in the community.
